- You have rights of access, correction and erasure. Ask and we will action them.
What we collect
| Category | What and why |
|---|---|
| Information you send us | Your name, contact details and the content of your message, when you contact us. Used to reply to you and for nothing else. |
| Technical data | Standard server information generated by any web request: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, date and time. Used for security and to keep the site working. |
| Analytics | Aggregate measures of page views and navigation, used to decide what to write and what to correct. Configured to avoid identifying individuals. |
Please do not include an identifiable employee’s personal details in a message to us; describe the situation generically instead.
Legal bases and your rights
We process data on the basis of legitimate interests (site security and aggregate analytics), consent (any non-essential cookie or optional communication), and the performance of a request you have made. You may request access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing and portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests or withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us. Where the EU or UK GDPR applies to you, you may also complain to your local supervisory authority; where China’s Personal Information Protection Law applies, you have corresponding rights under it.
Cookies
We use only what the site needs to function, plus aggregate analytics. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site will continue to work.
Retention and sharing
Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted. Server logs are kept briefly for security. We use third-party providers for hosting, email and analytics, who process data on our instructions and may be located outside your country; transfers rely on appropriate safeguards. We do not pass your details to EOR providers, PEOs, FESCOs or any company reviewed here, including when you ask us about one of them.
Links, children and changes
Our guides link to provider websites and official Chinese and international bodies, whose privacy practices we do not control. This site is aimed at employers and HR professionals and is not directed at children. We update this policy when our practices change; the version in force is the one published here.
